Windows 10: RICOH Network scanner stops scanning after every windows update

We are a small company with 10 win 10 PC stations (DELL laptops).


We use a RICOH Aficio network printer/scanner to print and scan. Mainly scan.


Some of the laptops stop scanning after windows updates. There is no pattern. It happens to some of the laptops, not all, not with all the updates.


The RICOH support explanation is that the update changes the security settings of each PC, thus not allowing the scanner to send the scanned file to the assigned folder. The assigned folder is no longer shared and visible to the scanner after the update.


It happens very frequently and people can no longer scan their files and we start looking for the wrong setting.


And it is not always the same setting. It drives us crazy. Currently we have 3 stations with no scanning and we cannot find the problem.


It is 2019 and this looks like an IT problem of the 80s.


Anyone faced this and found a permanent solution ?

Ricoh scanning on Win 10

In order to help you better, could you please confirm a couple of things:

• Are you trying to set up the Ricoh scanner?
• Do you get any error message?
• What is the model of the scanner?

Ricoh scanning on Win 10

We are having this issue also with a Ricoh multifunction machine. Our office computers are steadily upgrading to Windows 10 and those that have will no longer accept a scanned file from the Ricoh MP C5000 via SMB. The link above is no longer working to
check compatibility for this device. The full error message in the scanner is "Transmission Failed". Windows 7 worked flawlessly to receive scanned documents via SMB to shared folders.

Ricoh scanning on Win 10

My Ricoh multifunction is MP C2500 and the printer function works fine, but the scanner does not. The Ricoh "connects" to the PC, but when I try to scan, the error message is "Transmission has failed".

The consensus in the community is that Windows 10 has stuffed up the SMB codes. Can you tell me whether this error is likely to be fixed, or should I revert back to Windows 7?
