Windows 10 issue: New Folder, or Cut/Paste with Right Click or Top ribbon menu

In Pictures or Documents, can't start New Folder, or Cut/Paste with Right Click or Top ribbon menu

Attempts result in perpetual blue circling "wait" icon. Only option is to X out of the folder and try another method -- such as moving images from one folder to another without using cut/paste.

Interesting that I can copy/paste in this note -- but not in my Pictures folder.

  3. Right click>"Send to" copies, but can you cut/paste instead?

I have set up a shortcut in my right click menu to be able to Send To a certain folder. However, this seems to only copy the file, rather than cutting and pasting. The problem with copying, is that the file is still on the desktop, and then i have to manually delete it. Trying to save a step here. Can this be done?

Right Click has lost copy/paste/cut/new folder/rename. I need the original menu back

Files gone after cut/paste then undo (control+z)

I seem to have lost my files after doing the following steps. Is there a way for me to find the files?

    • I created a new folder in "Pictures" called "MomsPhone" C:\Users\willj\Pictures\MomsPhone
    • I selected the picture files from the android phone's DCIM folder, right clicked and chose "Cut"
    • Right clicked in the "MomsPhone" folder and chose "Paste"
    • In the "Pictures" directory, pressed control+z (undo)
After the above the "MomsPhone" directory is gone, the only folder in "Pictures" that was created today is "New folder" which is empty. The files from the original device (pictures from android phone's DCIM folder) are also gone (result of the cut/paste)

Edit: I use a Windows 10 HP with a Samsung SSD
