Windows 10: right click menu/clear recent documents clear recent items list

new to win11, i've been working a week to try to get win 11 to operate beautifully. i got it done!! but all of a sudden i tried to right click on start menu documents to "clear recent documents/items" and the option was gone.i've been playing around so much that i don't know when i lost it. i am running open-shell to bring the menu back and retrobar to bring the taskbar back.this is how it looks on my win7:and this is my win11 clear recent items list used to be there, i've quit out of both open-shell and retrobar but it doesn't reappear so i'm guessing it's a win11 thing.

When I right click at Windows 10 File Explorer icon on taskbar it shows me pinned and recent items. How to clear the recent list? I tried turning off setting "Show recently opened items in Jump list on Start or the taskbar", and clearing history in file
explorer under folder options. Nothing worked, list is still there.

Edit: I've just looked at what my Word 2010 does. It looks like it's from my recent items list, filtered to show only those documents that Office can open.
