Windows 10: Right click on folder causes chaos!

Yesterday I discovered a folder with a VERY long name, on my D: drive.I couldnt rename it, and when I right clicked it opened some applications, or crashed file explorer.sfc/scannow showed no issues, and chkdsk /f did not fix the issue. chkdsk report belowccleaner didnt show anything unexpected.I've checked the hard drive and its fine.Even the evnt log shows nothing unusual.Finally I managed to delete it - but I'm concerned there must be an underlying issue.I have windows defender - no other antivirus - and I'm currently running a customised scan.The PC is running W11 and fully updated.Are

Downloads folder is the Documents folder

I suggest you to Restore to Default the folders and document settings and see if it helps.

Step 1:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Download folder.
• Right click on the Download Folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

Step 2:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Documents folder.
• Right click on the Document folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

After performing above steps change the settings as you required and check if it helps.

Folder properties lists more files than actually in folder

Now please do this:

• Create a shortcut for cmd.exe on your desktop.
• Right-click it, then left-click Run as administrator. You will get a black frame.
• Type these commands and press Enter after each:
  
  cd /d "D:\Users\Chaos Black\Chaos Black"
  
  dir /a-d /s /b /p music
• Check the total number of files. Does it agree with the number shown in the folder properties? If so, did the command display file names you did not see before?

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps:

• 
  Go to Libraries and right click on the libraries.
  
• 
  Select restore default libraries.
  

I also suggest you to change the location again after restoring the default libraries.

You may follow the steps below to change the location.

• 
  Right click on the documents Quick Access list.
  
• 
  Go to properties.
  
• 
  Under Location, change the location, Select Ok and Click on Apply.
  

Kindly conform whether you have checked the Hidden attributes. To do so, Right click on Documents in the Quick Access list and go to the properties option.
