Windows 10: Right click on the Windows start button stoped working, anyone know how to fix this?

I am talking about the menu that has task manager, command line and other admin tools.

Running fully patched 1909

Recently restored image from a backup taken right before the latest March cumulative update and then once the unpatched system was restored I immediately applied the latest update.

No other bugs or issues are apparent. Left click works fine. System otherwise running beautifully.

Googled the issue and this problem has apparently been vexing users going back to 2016/2017 timeframe but I did not see a solution that is validated to have worked.

Ran System File Checker (sfc.exe) and no integrity violation was found

Start Button displaying but not working


The start button was working until there was a forced reboot (power failure). Then left click (normal click) over the start button does absolutely nothing. Right click brings up a menu but "programs" and also "settings" are missing and not included on this list. Search or Task View buttons do not work either with "normal" click. Does anyone have any suggestion or fixes?

To fix your start button, we suggest that you follow these steps:

1. Open Windows PowerShell as Administrator.

• Right-click on Start button.
• Select Command Prompt (Admin)
• Type in Powershell and hit Enter.

2. Paste the below command in the Administrator: Windows Powershell window, and press Enter.

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

3. Wait for the Powershell to execute and complete the command. Ignore the errors in red color that may pop up.

4. When finished, try clicking the start if it's already working.
