It's about time for Xp to die. It's a security nightmare.

Windows 10 windows' borders are too thin!!

That's OK, I have no intention of hiring you as a UI/UX designer either - and this has nothing to do with your problems with language.

The border is not the visual cue at all.

    • It was not in Win 3.x because they had borders on resizable windows and non-resizable windows. The only difference was non-resizable borders did not have the little line to separate the corners.
    • It was not in Win 9x because they had borders on resizable and non resizable windows and with its preponderance of grey, it was often hard to tell where border ended and the program began.
    • It was not in XP but the default blue borders made it easier to tell the difference between the border and the program - but not between resizable and sizable ones.
    • As for XP, the same for the Aero twins - except both the resizable and non resizable borders were a simulated glass look.

The one, true, real and only reliable visual cue for where you can resize a window since the beginning of resizable windows in Windows is the MOUSE CURSOR. When Apple copied Windows and moved their resize point from just the bottom left resize box to the
edges, they copied the mouse cursor visual cue and not the border. They did this because it is poor UI/UX design to rely on a static visual cue that is hard or impossible to tell the difference from the same or virtually identical non-resizable border

When you understand this and look at the identical border on the non-resizable Win 10 mouse control panel but still jump to the, at this point, weird conclusion that this same border in Edge means that the tab is resizable because it has a border, then you
have shown no understanding of UI/UX. Just because you think it says "resize me " does not and never has meant you are right.

Right on cue, Windows 10 has overtaken XP

A Case for Microsoft to start listening to it's users!

Windows 10 is now installed on more than 600 million devices. According to StatsCounter, Windows 10 has now overtaken Windows 7 as the most used version of Windows.

Apparently, someone's getting the message, and that someone ain't you.

The statistic I would like to see is the Windows 7/10 domestic percentage ie corporate use removed.

We all know in corpy land, Windows 7 rules supreme, but it is difficult to assess domestic take up of Windows 10.

Obviously the decline in Windows 7 is much greater in the domestic market.

Taking a very rough guess (absolutely no basis at all for this) that the domestic and corporate market is split 50:50 (and I would guess corporate is really higher than this), and assuming the corpy market has barely moved ie all the change is in the domestic market, then we could guess the domestic share of Windows 7 was around 30% and has now declined to around 22% (compared with Windows 10 now at 12% from 0%).

If one extrapolates that, then domestically, Windows 10 would overtake Windows 7 within the next six months.

On a similar vein, the Windows 10 takeup is probably greater in the developed countries?

Wishful/flawed thinking - maybe. It would be nice to see a more detailed breakdown of the figures so we could really see the true underlying trends.

Please feel free to rubbish my figures (or even support them). Just making a point really that the gross figures do not really tell us anything significant.

    They are still using XP.
There are more XP diehards than W8.1 or OS X users.

"XP Armageddon" never happened despite all of the hysteria and marketing hype.

These security updates are useless anyhow. Use Linux to go on the web. That gives you better security.

  12. They won't be getting Security updates from MS, that we know for sure.
This means they didn't cop the dodgy updates that have been released during the past 2 years and they have avoided the annoyance caused by GWX.

Presumably they are relying on AV updates and not using IE for Internet access.

Firefox works the same in Windows and Linux Distros.
I've even heard people talk about using Chrome (shudder) on Linux Distros.

So?? I never liked the UI in any distribution of Linux. They're trying to make it like Windows and they're failing.
Make it more unique.. or at least try.

What's wrong with Chrome in Linux. Did you ever really try it. Works perfectly.
