Windows 10: Rightclicking on JPG file results in computer temporarily freezing

I have a problem that I have tried to google a solution for but to no avail. Most of the time when I right click a JPG file usually locate on my desktop to select "Open with". The whole system freezes. It takes several seconds while the screen temporarily turns white and then it goes back to normal again. Repeating the attempt results in the same behavior. Opening the same file from within the editing programPhotoshop is no problem. I have Photoshop set as default program for opening a JPG but I have tried to set other image editing programs as default but the results are the same.


I run Win 10 Pro 64-bit version 1909 on a
Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2nd Signature with 16GB RAM and Intel Core i7-7600@2.8GHz

Windows 10 Computer Randomly Freezes

File Explorer Freezing Computer

File explorer freezes my windows 10 computer when accessing folders with large files (media). It can sometimes open the folder without freezing, but if I change the sort order or even scroll down too too fast, the green progress bar starts and freezes
the computer part way through. The only way out is a hard reboot (power). Keyboard and Mouse are frozen and unresponsive.

I have tried a variety of the "solutions" offered. Re-starting with diagnostic startup resulted in the same problems. Safe Mode resulted in same problem. Scannow utility did not find any issues. Disabling all the Quick view options possible did not solve
it. Viewing the folder without icons (list mode) seemed to help but did not solve it. Disk optimization current.

Any ideas?

• Have you tried to perform startup repair of the computer?
• When you say that "The screen was freeze, neither the Keyboard nor the Mouse responded.", when exactly the screen is getting freeze? Is it at login screen or while booting the computer?
• When you switch on the computer, are you able see anything on the screen?
