Risks of reinstalling via Windows 11 recovery drive

I tried to recover Windows via Windows Recovery Drive USB. My Windows is installed on C, and there are multiple physical disks installed on my computer, such as D and E, as backup drives. The problem is that If there is a problem with the C drive, it will be installed on the D drive without asking. In simple terms, When recovering, there is no option to format the drive and select the drive to install Windows. It forces formatting and reinstallation. I lost my backup hard drive. It will be restored through a recovery company. Bill, I hope other people don't suffer misfortune. I hope you

    :)

  2. Reinstall Windows 10 to new hard drive

    Hi Rodolpho,

We want to know about the issue you're having with your recovery drive. Please answer the questions below:

    • Are you trying to reinstall Windows 8 or Windows 10?
    • If you already upgraded to Windows 10, were you able to create a new copy of the recovery drive?

We suggest creating a new copy of the recovery drive and then follow the steps provided by Andre Da Costa above this thread.

Update us with the outcome so we can assist you further.

  3. How to: Create a Recovery Drive for reinstalling Windows 10

When the recovery drive program reaches the step to "select USB Drive" no USB drives are listed even though the USB clearly shows up in File Explorer.

    No Recovery Partition

Hi cereberus, after running the reagentc/info command it says "Windows RE Status: disabled". So then you suggest enabling it. Will enabling it create the recovery partition? Any risk doing this? I thought the recovery partition is useful in cases that the OS is not starting up. UPDATE: Found these steps outlined by JoeR in the forum to create a Bootable USB Recovery Drive in Windows 10
