Windows 10: RMA'd WD blue - 48 bit LBA not supported - Device won't work on AHCI

Hi folks

I've bought zillions of bits of computer hardware in my time - but first time I've ever had to RMA a HDD from Amazon -- message on computer "48 bit LBA not supported - Device won't work on AHCI".

I tried all sorts of things to get round problem -- no way so I RMA'd it back to Amazon -- whatever you think of Amazon the RMA process is simple - print label which they email you, affix to package, and take to a post office /collection centre -- ZERO cost to you -- so customer service on Amazon seems at least here 100% first class.

I bought 2 of these WD Blue devices -- one was perfect so I know it's not the computer mobo or whatever.

My gut feel is though some companies with lack of Xmas sales due to corona virus lock downs etc are probably are pushing some old stock -- so do check --and RMA'ing stuff back to people like Amazon isn't a mega problem any more.

WD Purple or Blue?

My suggestion, avoid the Blues at all costs. I wouldn't trust my data on a WD Blue if WD was paying me to use it.
