  1. RockYou2024: Almost 10 Billion Passwords Released


    On July 4, 2024 Cybernews reported that the largest ever password compilation was recently leaked on the dark web. Dubbed RockYou2024, it includes almost 10 billion unique passwords in plaintext, which includes 8.4 billion passwords that were previously revealed and 1.5 billion new passwords. 'Plaintext' means that these passwords are not encrypted - they are actual passwords, released in a text file. The passwords come from a mixture of old and new data breaches. Revealing so many passwords in a single text file makes it easier for attackers to use the information. This makes 'right now' as
