Windows 10: ROG Zephyrus finger reader will work perfect when in hibernation, but not after cold boot

After a cold boot not waking it from sleep or restart the fingerprint login doesn't work - the computer doesn't react to me putting my finger on the reader at all. However, after logging in with my PIN and then locking the laptop, the fingerprint reader starts working as expected in hibernation until the next restart or shutdown. Did anyone else have this problem and find a solution?Is there a setting I don't know about?

Goodrix finger reader rarely works and requires nearly daily resets worked and now again broken

This is not the first time I have complainted about Goodrix finger reader on my ASUS ROG Zephyrus. Ok this is about the 4th post about this product. Who developed this monster? Again it has stopped working. No error messages nothing when I trouble shoot. I have tried what I thought was everything.

It works a day or so and then stops. I think I might exchange this Rog Zephrus 14 for an Apple. This is so annoying and NO ONE seems to know how to fix it. BTW this laptop is only 6 months old.

 

Windows 8 faster boot: cold boot / hibernate combo

windows 7 w/ a ssd is already pretty dang fast, from hibernation its pretty much instant, cold boot is maybe 20s.

 

Finger print reader not working

• Press Windows key and type troubleshooting in the search bar.
  
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click on Hardware and Devices.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2: Update the finger scanner drivers.

• Press Windows key + X and click on
  Device manager.
• Expand Human Interface Devices.
• Right click on your finger scanner device.
• Click on Update Driver Software
  and follow the onscreen instructions.
