Windows 10: rotation lock is greyed out - I have to manually change display orientation on my Dell...

My Dell Notebook computer with Windows 10 used to change display orientation when I turned it on its side. It has stopped doing that, and the setting for rotation lock is in the on position and is greyed out so that I cannot change it.

I usually use my Lenovo Yoga in tent mode but recently had to use it as a standard laptop. When I restarted, rotation lock was disabled. I looked through some previous discussions but none of the suggestions worked. However, one led me to discovering the
following solution: Change display orientation to "landscape flipped". This enabled the rotation lock toggle.

After update, my display changed to portrait. I have changed it to landscape but the rotation lock is greyed out, so that it will not automatically change to portrait if I rotate the screen.

1. Right click on your desktop background

2. Choose display settings

3. Turn your screen physically sideways (this should "ungrey" the "lock rotation")

4. Click the rotation lock

5. Turn your computer back the way it was

6. Now make the orientation landscape by changing it in the orientation drop down

7. Next time you turn it it sideways it won't rotate but the button will "ungrey" when you do
