Windows 10: RTF file is only showing some of the saved file

Hi, I have been taking notes into a RTF file on WordPad for the last week. It has gotten quite long and the file is now 44 MB in size. Today, when I opened the file, it basically opened as if it was the second day and 90% of the information was missing from the file. When I exit out it still states the file is 44 MB large. When I try to save the file as an XML version to open into Microsoft Word, it saves as the displayed text which is 8 KB in size. So I think the file is so large for WordPad it is not loading the whole thing but I don't know how to save it as a different format to open into W

Hi Michelle,

Some documents when saved takes up space due to its components. For us to help you with your concern, we'd like to know if your rtf file has images on it.

Meanwhile, if your rtf file has pure texts, we suggest that you follow the steps below to reduce the size of your rtf file:

• Compose your rtf file in Microsoft Word.
• Instead of saving, copy and paste your composition to WordPad. All the formatting is copied over too.
  
• Save the document with WordPad, and you'll get a significantly smaller file.

Saves log files ?

You can either read the files in Windows or my preferred method is.....

Download CCcleaner from here...........

You can then run cleaner, you will see the log files listed, then if you right click you can save as a text file and then have a read. You may also get an "error reporting" log listed seperatly.

 

.rtf file recovery

I have Windows 8 and recently saved a project as a 50 kb .rtf file. And when I went to open it it shows that the text is there, but its blank. I have tried to open it with other text editors, and get the same results. But other .rtf files work just fine.
How do I recover my data without having to redo it? I have included a screenshot to show what Im talking about.
