    Rufus latest version forces NTFS creating bootable drives


    Hi folks

    Watch out if you use Rufus to create bootable drives from ISO's
    The latest version doesn't give an option to use FAT32 in some cases when creating a UEFI boot drive (or hybrid MBR/UEFI CSM boot).

    A lot of UEFI computers don't boot NTFS drives -- OK the latest ones do but there's a lot of old ones out there still.

    Hopefully RUFUS will fix in a future release.

    rufus tool uefi and ntfs

    yes rufus made 2 partitions on usb stick but to boot it I had to select other os instead of uefi in bios now all my partitions on ssd are ntfs

    The last I saw anything mentioned about Rufus was it would create a USB drive with two partitions. One for the UEFI boot and allow the NTFS partition to hold larger file sizes...

    What boot options did you show when you booted it?

    How you install depends on how you boot the Install Media. If you have a clean drive, the install will set the drive up the way the booted install media dictates.
