Windows 10: Run and interact with 2 programs using batch

Hello, I currently use my PC to run a Minecraft server. Every time I restart my PC I have to run the server start program and then run another program to open the port. Is there a way to use a batch file that I can just click on and it runs these 2 programs. The second program is a cmd prompt and I need to type in a command to open the port. Can I also use this with batch, thanks!

thepollock89 FordGT90Concept is right. You could write it so much easier with vb and it would be much easier for the end user to add data to your database. If you are just doing this to achieve a goal of I did it, and not something someone would use daily... Then why not try using something to help you do what you want.. Like Ford suggested have the batch call a program like "sed".. Only thing is Sed is a Unix program, but it has been ported to Win32 here. *Toast :toast: aahhh I just thought of my old RS6000.. :d

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

running DOS as ADMIN

I assume you don't have 'exit' anywhere in your batch file?

Rather than playing with 'pause' - if you want to see the output...

1. Open a command window as admin
2. Run the batch file manually
3. Command window will not close unless the 'exit' command is issued
4. Read output

That's the first step I'd take to diagnose. Then run every line in your batch file manually, one-by-one, in your admin command window (copy and paste from the actual batch file, don't retype the commands).

You'll soon find your problem.
