  2. %appdata% not opening in run

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you are facing issues while accessing AppData after installing NOX player, and I certainly appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve
    the issue.

Let’s see if the path for AppData is assigned correctly. Kindly follow the steps mentioned below:

    1.
    Press
Windows + S keys together to open Search.

    2.
    Now type
CMD, right click on it and select Run as administrator

    3.
    Accept the
    UAC prompts

    4.
Type in the command and hit
    Enter: set appdata

    5.
Check if the path shown is correct

Once you check the path from the above steps, check is if the registry settings for AppData is set correctly.

    1. Press Windows key + R. This will open Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for ‘Run’.
    2. In Run dialog box, type ‘regedit’ and hit Enter.
    3. On the left hand pane navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
    4. On the right hand pane look for AppData
      String value key
    5. Make sure the value is
      %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming
    6. Restart the PC.

Let us know how it goes.

  3. I have a problem opening %appdata%

I'm having this issue on Windows 10.

The solution posted doesn't fix the problem, it just gets around it. When I type %appdata% into the run window (Windows Key + r) it asks how to open the file. The point is that it shouldn't be asking how to open a folder. Explorer is not in the list and
when you click for more options, the menu closes. Please advise.
