  1. Run-as-administrator doesn't cause browser to run under administrator account

I am logged into a non-administrator account. In my Start Menu, Firefox shows up under "Most used". If I right-click it and choose to run it as administrator, I am unable to use it to download files to an administrator folder. The Task Manager's Details tab shows that it is running under the non-administrator account.

Why would run-as-administrator not cause an app to run under the administrator account?

How can I ensure that it does?

    :)

Win8.1 can "Run as administrator" be deactived?

Just like Windows 7 you have two options.

1.) Turn off User Account Control. This will automatically run everything as administrator.
2.) Use the hidden True Administrator account. This will break most of the Apps in Windows 8 though(some consider this a good thing*Laugh :laughRun-as-administrator doesn't cause browser to run under administrator account :).

The option to run as administrator will still be there, but you'll never have to use it.

  3. Run as administrator

    Hello,

One of the possible reasons why you cannot run as the administrator is because you're running a local account. To get more closely at the root cause, we need additional information:

    • Are you signing in with a local or Microsoft account?
    • Have you tried changing UAC settings or change account type?

Meanwhile, you can also check this
    link
on how to log-in as an administrator.

Note that this is also applicable to Windows 10.

We're looking forward to your response.

Run-as-administrator doesn't cause browser to run under administrator account

    Boot into Windows as administrator

You set up the admin password when installing XP, but most the time people believe it is for their individual account and not the Administrator one. As for Vista, like stated before, the initial account created is an administrator account, and if necessary, you may need to right click certain programs to "Run as Administrator"
