Windows 10: Run DLL Issue

Got a new printer and so loaded its drivers and deleted the old one. Now when I start my computer I get a run DLL error message saying it cannot located the deleted software. I assume it wants to load as part of the start up. Tried looking at my start menu, but can't seem to find a way to stop this error message.

You can't run .DLL files simply because you're not supposed to run .DLL files directly.

What is it you're actually looking to do with the .DLLs anyway? Are you having issues with any program?

I am more miffed about the missing file and the lack of updates, I don't have a disc so cannot reload windows 10.

Saw that you had deleted old drivers, did you also delete the software. Should be listed in apps.

 

Did delete the software and by doing that thought I was deleting the driver. Do I need to take another step?

 

Having the driver won't cause the run dll error.

When you get the message do you notice an icon along the taskbar with a blue underline?

Have you check reliability history to see if it gives you more detail? Type reliability history into Cortana, it should be at top of list.

 

I have attached a screenshot of the error message. Think you should be able to read it with a magnifying piece. Did the reliability check and nothing showed up. Error message basically says it can't find the software I deleted, but I guess my question is what is making it look for the software?

 

Sorry just so we are on same page, when you said you looked in start menu you meant the Startup tab within Task Manager correct?

As well did you remove all scanner software associated with this printer. (Assuming its an AIO)

 

There is this tool, part of Sysinternals, called Autoruns.

Very powerful, use with caution.

You should be able to find this call and remove it.

Before doing this I strongly recommend you you ensure restore points are enable, you create a restore point and even investigate using a tool like Macrium Reflect to image your system. Not that I'm expecting a disaster but it is better to be prepared than sorry.

Do you have boot media? If not create some by typing "Recovery Drive" into Cortana. Should be top app. Likely need an 8GB key. Everyone needs boot media.
