Run function (Windows + R) bugged after Windows 10 Upgrade

    Hello,

I regularly use the Windows + R function to run things or to head to hidden files immediately (typing %AppData% in it, for example)

I upgraded from a Windows 7 (Home Premium 64-bit) and after upgrading, the Run function seems to be a little bit bugged.
Normally, The thing you previously ran through Windows + R should appear in the typing bar. Now, it doesn't.
Also, when you click on the arrow at the end of the bar, to expand your "run history", it expands a lot, but is completely empty.
This is quite an annoyance, as I can't just immediately run %AppData% or anything from the expanded "history", I have to retype it everytime.

Something strange however: when typing "regedit", something does appear as a "suggestion".

"Revo Uninstaller Free - Latest version check | Dutch"

I do have Revo Uninstaller installed, but I have no idea what that link is doing in there. It brings me to a window where I can download Revo Uninstaller for 50% off the price......... (or refer me to the site itself)

I assume this is a simple bug, and not something suspicious done by Revo Uninstaller to make me buy their software.
Is there a way to "reset" the "Windows + R" function, so it'll work properly afterwards?

Thank you for any time and effort!

Bluetooth Hardware Disconnected after Windows 10 Upgrade

I am running a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro. The Bluetooth function was working under Windows 8.1, but after upgrading to Windows 10 two days ago, it is now missing. There is no option for Bluetooth under Start>Settings>Devices. The Bluetooth Device is hidden in Device
Manager and appears grayed out when I view hidden devices. This allows me to update the driver, but it makes no difference as Device Manager displays the following:

"Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."

I am sure the hardware is connected as it is internal and was just replaced last week. This is the second time this has happened: the original Bluetooth hardware had not worked since I first tried upgrading to Windows 10 last year on a then-new machine (even
after I later downgraded again to Windows 8.1.) I have not downgraded this time and am trying to fix this within Windows 10.

I have run the Hardware Troubleshooter and turned on the Bluetooth Process under services, which have done nothing.

Please let me know what aspect of Windows 10 can be modified to discover the Bluetooth hardware. I know it is not a problem with the hardware itself but a bug of Windows 10 as this is the second time upgrading to Windows 10 has caused this on new and Windows
    8-functioning hardware.

The Device Manager tells me the Bluetooth Hardware is "Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R)" but it says details are unknown. Windows Update says I have all possible updates for Windows 10, as well.

    Thank you for your help!

My Bluetooth cannot be enabled or is missing

    Hi,

After a Microsoft Windows update this past weekend Bluetooth functionality is non existent.

The following is the device status for the Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R):

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE

It seems to me that an automatic upgrade has ruined my PC's capabilities. Please provide feedback as how to rectify this functionality.

Run function (Windows + R) bugged after Windows 10 Upgrade

    Anyone?

There is a way to clear the history from the Run command through regedit, but the key they refer me to is empty. (there is no history)
Why is this happening exactly? Is my run command hijacked by Revo, giving me that link to buy their stuff?

Sounds like a corrupted registry key to me -
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RunMRU

I'd delete the full content of the key (but not the key itself) just leaving the default value (which should be empty - 'value not set')

Well, that's the problem, the registry key is already empty. It only contains the default key with no value set.

It should in theory fill up - perhaps the setting for the number of entries is wrong? (not sure where that is, though *Sad )

Just in case it's something more try this...

Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands

    Code: REG DELETE HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RunMRU /F REG ADD HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RunMRU /ve /F REG ADD HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RunMRU /v MRUList /t REG_SZ .[/quote] reboot, and see if that works.

Run function (Windows + R) bugged after Windows 10 Upgrade

I had contacted Revo support about this aswell. They said that it might be because of usage of a registry cleaner, like CCleaner, which I have installed, but I have not used it months, and this issue only occured after upgrading to Windows 10
(Also I'm very cautious with the registry cleaner, I only clean the keys it finds that were connected to programs I uninstalled)

They also said the URL which appears in the Run command is caused by Internet Explorer browser history. I cleared it and it seems to be gone. *Smile

I ran the commands and rebooted. I did some runs with it, but it still doesn't save them in the list. It's still empty. *Sad
Back when I had Windows 7 on this device, I can remember that there was a way to prevent the Run command from saving your previous runs... It was through the properties of the Task Bar, but I can't seem to find it in Windows 10. Perhaps that has been activated?

Revo might do it's job, but it sure does not do it for free. That's why issues such as these surfaces (Revo hijacks most mru-s for commercial purposes).

Well, guess what I said about hijacking is not really true... That URL came from Internet Explorer browse history and as far as I can tell it seems to be normal to have IE browse history appear in the Run command. (no idea why)

But as I already said, I managed to get it removed, that's one thing solved, the thing regarding my Run history not appearing is still a mystery.

I may have found the trigger....
Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands...

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
    HKEY_USERS\.default\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

    post the results.

All 3 gave something like "the system could not find the given path"
I checked the registry with regedit and for the first one (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\...) there's no Explorer "folder" inside Policies. It's an empty key.

The path of the second one does exist, it has the following keys inside:
    (Default)
    ForceActiveDesktopOn
    NoActiveDesktop
    NoActiveDesktopChanges
    NoRecentDocsHistory

Value for Default is REG_SZ, all the rest has REG_DWORD

The third path doesn't exist either. No Policies tab under CurrentVersion.
