Windows 10: Run-time Error '8020': Error Reading Comm Device

I have a Ham Radio that I am trying to program with the manufacturers software and a USB cord. I have been able to program this radio with my computer using Windows 7. Since upgrading the very same computer to Windows 10 I have run into 2 problems. Problem 1 I receive this error message for the com port that I use under Device Manager>Ports COM & LPTL2303HXA PHASED OUT SINCE 2012. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SUPPLIERI was able to get around this by rolling back that specific com port's driver to an earlier version the radio manufacturers software disk had this driver luckily.Problem 2 A

To elaborate, we are experiencing "Run-time error '8020': Error reading comm device" using a PIC18F14K50 USB Module to a VB6 application isolated to Win 10 OS (Home tested not Professional) and not networked.

Driver versions 5.1.2600.2 and 5.1.26009 work with above USB module and VB6 application on Win XP, 7 and 8.1, but again not on Win 10. The Microchip PIC USB module using these drivers on Win 10 "does" work with non-VB6 applications.
Note, above VB6 application works on Win 10 PC with Keyspan USB module and its driver.

As you can see, the problem is with Win 10 OS not Microchip.

As soon as the preview build 14332 is available for download I'll try it.

I've just setup my computer for insider and I know it will take about 24 hours to be available for download.

The current version I use is Build 14332.rs1_release.160422-1940 (32 bit)

I still get the error

Run-time error '8020':

Error reading comm device

when trying to connect to the 18F2550 from microchip.

When using the API from VB6 for communication I manage to get it working.

However Win 10 64 bit doesn't like the unsigned usbser.sys driver.

When I start Win 10 using an unsigned driver and API for communication I works well on Arduino, K8055 and 18F2550. (see link)

You can't always have 'Trust in the machine' ;-)

As far as I can see there hasn't changed anything.
