Running both Malwarebytes & Windows Defender ?

Have been running MBAM Pro and Windows Defender. This article incl exclusions for both progs to avoid potential conflicts when running simultaneously - How to Run Malwarebytes Alongside Another Antivirus

"Malwarebytes is coded in a different way and is designed to run alongside other antivirus programs without interfering. It may even work without any further configuration. But, to make it work as well as it possibly can and improve performance, you should set up exclusions in both Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium and your standard antivirus program." To do this in Malwarebytes, open Malwarebytes, click the Settings icon, select “Malware Exclusions,” and add the folder — typically under Program Files — containing your antivirus program’s files.

In your antivirus program, load the antivirus program, find “exclusions”, “ignored files”, or a similarly named section, and add the appropriate Malwarebytes files.
You should exclude these files on 64-bit versions of Windows:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamscheduler.exe
    C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys
    ... continued @ link

    :)

  2. Windows 10 Error

Thanks for the response Lawrence. I did run both MalwareBytes & Windows Defender. Neither of them showed that there was anything found. I rebooted the PC after running both & each of the error messages
came on again at bootup. Do you have any other thoughts that I might try???

  4. Running both Malwarebytes & Windows Defender ?

    Hello:

    Good advice, @mrgeek.

To be honest, though, it's rarely necessary these days to set mutual exclusions between MBAM Premium and one's anti-virus. MBAM is designed and coded to run alongside all of the major, popular AVs, in order to provide complementary, layered protection against zero-hour and zero-day threats often missed by the AVs.

While each system is unique and the occasional compatibility problem does arise, many users run MBAM Premium alongside their AV/firewall just fine without setting exclusions.
Some users prefer to set these mutual exclusions "proactively", to reduce the chance of problems.

If one does wish to set the mutual exclusions, the attached screenshot shows an example of the AV folder added to the MBAM malware exclusions.
The verbiage below lists the MBAM files to exclude from one's AV, and the cdn URL to exclude from one's firewall. They were written for OS pre-Win10, but the process is analogous.

    Thank you,
    MM
    -----------------

Please exclude the following files from your Antivirus Software for your version of Windows:

For 32 bit versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 & Windows 8:
    • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
    • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
    • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
    • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
    • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamresearch.exe
    • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamscheduler.exe

For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista, Windows 7 & Windows 8:
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamresearch.exe
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware \mbamscheduler.exe
Note: If you are using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall, you'll need to exclude MBAM.EXE, MBAMSERVICE.EXE and MBAMRESEARCH.EXE from it, as well.

Note: Once that's done, please make sure that if either of those programs has any sort of web filter, that you add the following as a trusted site:
    Code: data-cdn.mbamupdates.com[/quote]
