Windows 10: Running into countless issues trying to reset my pc -- need some serious help

I have reason to believe I have a resilient virus, so I've been trying to reset my PC, but I've been running into countless issues no matter what I do.

For context; I have a Dell XPS 13, and I'm running Windows 10. Let's run through everything I've tried so far:

1. At first I tried to reset normally, but the process keeps stopping about 1/5th of the way through and i'll get an error message saying "There Was A Problem Resetting Your PC. No changes were made". I then tried every single setting option to reset and nothing worked. I then tried looking up the issue on youtube and I ran through a few potential fixes and NONE of them worked.
2. After that I saw a comment recommending that I launch the reset from a USB drive. So I set about trying to launch the Media Creation Tool. It got to the point where it tried to download Windows 10, but it stayed at 0% for hours. I tried a few more times and I continue getting the 0% issue. I then looked the issue up on youtube, and tried to apply a few potential fixes and NONE of them worked.
3. I saw a comment recommending that I download Windows 10 as an ISO from the official website and then attach it to a USB using Rufus, then launch a boot update from that. I was able to get the download going through google chrome, but unfortunately, the download is 5GB and I was unable to get the download speed above 10kbps despite having decent internet -- the estimated download time for that was 3 days; which is absurd.

So that's where I'm at currently. I definitely don't want to have to take my laptop to a professional because I dont think I can afford it.

I've spent almost 2 days non-stop stressing about my inability to solve this weird issue. Is there anyone out there who can help me with any of these 3 issues?

Yes try it again... lol... we were waiting for that!

You have steps listed....try to find a another pc to try...try to reset the bios and see if that for some reason would help. But yes, try putting it back in. If not, id say rma time.

 

Reset PC running Windows 10

I would suggest you to try the below methods and check if it helps:

Method 1: I would suggest you to run “Hardware and Devices” troubleshooter to diagnose the exact issue.

Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter:

• Press “Windows key + X”.
• Type “Troubleshooting” without quotes in the Search box and hit enter.
• Select “Hardware and Sound” from the Troubleshooter Window.
• Select “Hardware and Devices” under Devices option.
• Follow the On Screen instructions.

Method 2:
Un-install and re-install latest keyboard and mouse drivers from the manufacturer’s website and see if that helps:

Follow these steps:

• Press “Windows Key + X” from the keyboard.
• Type “device Manager” without quotes in the search box and hit enter.
• Right click on the keyboard and mouse rivers and select
  “Uninstall”.
• Restart the computer once it is uninstalled.

How to factory reset Cisco 1700 Router

Hopefully I can help you here....its a very common thing to happen.


First, I take it you dont know the passwords for console access or telnet/ssh?

I will assume that these devices belong to you.

step 1. Plug a cisco console cable into a serial port on your pc
step 2. Plug other end into Cisco console port
step 3. Using hyperterm or putty or similar connect to the serial port
step 4. boot router, and make sure you clearly can see the output (this confirms you have good serial comms)
step 5. if this fails, adjust the comm port settings (9600, 8,1,n are the default)
step 6. now you have to do the only hard part...send the break command:

Break command list: Break Commands

Go down the list and match your OS and SW and try the sequence suggested.

If this fails several times do what I do: Install putty (free) and then to send a break so you can get into rommom just hit "ctrl-a b".
