    Running Office 2003 in Windows 10. File Explorer Issue


    Running Office 2003 in Windows 10 and always had a problem with the old version of file explore being used within office products.


    I noticed the other day that one of my computers was utilizing a new W10 version file explorer within Office 2003 after update/upgrading to Windows 10 I have not been using the computer for a long time even after upgrading to W10.


    How can I enable the system to force use W10 file explorer within Office 2003?

    Windows 10 Tweaks

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    If your Office 2003 apps do not appear in the list, then you can use Option Two, step 3 from that tutorial and browse this PC to find them.

    Choose Default Apps in Windows 10 - Option Two

    MS Office 2003 and Windows 10


    I have a new computer with Windows 10. I loaded MS Office 2003 in hopes of down loading and using files from the old computer. Apparently Office 2003 is not compatible with Windows 10. So, I am searching for a solution. I can buy a new program for $149.00 from MS but I am not sure it will open MS Office 2003 docs so I can use them. If you have any suggestions please feel free.
