Windows 10: Running troubleshooter on Windows 11, not able to connect to Microsoft account

I was working on an associate's laptop yesterday, that after some system updates was unable to find its own built-in webcam. I went round and round with the suggestions and did finally solve it after over an hour on a support chat with the vendor's tech support team. In the process of things I tried, however, one was a troubleshooter step, I think it was pertaining to drivers for the device, and one of the steps of this opened a login window to connect to my Microsoft account. We are a Microsoft 365 organization, although we do not have the mail hosting component. I tried first to connect us

Cannot link/add my Microsoft Account to Local Account

Hello Ken,

Im using Win10 Build 1607 with all latest update.

I also run all related troubleshooters:

• Windows Update
• Store Apps (says i have to login in my microsoft account but thats the problem, i can't)
• Microsoft Accounts

No Problem found. Also the suggestions from Microsoft didnt helped.

 

Although Internet is running usual Windows 10 not able to connect internet

• What is the error message you get?
• Have you made changes to the computer prior to this issue?
• Are you logged in using Microsoft account or Local account?

Follow the steps:

• Type troubleshooting in the search bar.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click on Internet Connections.
• Follow the on-screen instructions.

and check if it helps.

If the issue persists then you may run the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool which fixes the Windows corruption error if there are any. Follow the steps:
