Windows 10: Running windows 10 AEd . confused over IE11 and EDGE

my windows 10 has the Blue E that states 'Microsoft Edge' when mouse hovers over the taskbar avatar .. but My MSN videos play videos back in black screen( no video) and sound is OK .. BUT every where I look for a fix remedy says to fix this within IE11 settings where is IE11?

"When upgrading from an earlier version of Windows to Windows 10, Microsoft Edge will automatically become your default browser. Microsoft Edge is a new internet browser introduced with Windows 10 ."

in the mean time have made my default browser google chrome and have no problem with MSN videos ...

Yes I believe it is only IE11 since Windows 10 anniversary was installed. I starting using Firefox yesterday and I do not believe I had any 'not responding' problems. I prefer IE11 over Edge and have all my favorites... there as I can't find out how I
can import them to Firefox. Plus I have an AdBlock software that doesn't run on yahoo.com for Firefox but does for IE11 yahoo for some reason... Thanks, Claude

 

IE11 v Edge

Running Windows 10 TH1 Pro 10240 having upgraded from Windows 7 through all preview releases.

Currently cannot update via IE11 as wuapp.exe missing (?) but can via Edge. Question is............when Windows 10 is released will IE11 will be replaced by Microsoft Edge ?

My installed IE11 is from Windows 7 days so rather than concern myself about non functioning updates, I could just remove IE11 via Programs and Features and continue to use the new browser.

 

Windows 10 comes with both IE11 and Edge built in. Edge is Microsoft's recommended browser and the one where all future development will concentrate. But the business world would throw up their hand in horror if IE was removed - many bespoke company Intranet applications will only work with IE because only IE can run Microsoft ActiveX controls. Indeed Microsoft's own Update Catalog website will only work with IE for the same reason.

You have IE if you really need it but MS don't really want you to use it, so it's hidden away on an infrequently visited part of the All Apps list. It's to be found under 'Windows Accessories'. The only other place you can find it is (ironically) in Edge. Open any webpage, click on the 'three dots' icon at the top right and one of the items in the menu that appears is 'Open with Internet Explorer'. However you get to it, once running you can pin it to the taskbar.

But finding IE isn't necessarily going to help you fix Edge's video problems, the settings you need to change may be in Edge, not IE. It's not clear what you mean by 10 A.Ed. Can you type Winver in the search box next to Start and run it. To be of more help we need to know the full set of numbers shown there for the version and OS build.

What I can tell you is that for my version 1607 (OS Build 14393.187) Edge has no such problems showing videos from MSN.

 

ran winver and it displayed the same version Windows 10 - Build 14393.187 ... what I meant by A. Ed was anniversary edition so back to the problem ... Google Chroem shows no problem video play fine .. and my version of IE is Edge .. so my post was what do I need to fix this . .Flash? Adobe ? updates ..? other wise I'll stick to Chrome ..

You cannot install or update Edge's Flash by visiting Adobe. Trying to do gets this page...

The Adobe page includes a Flash tester and some simple settings checks for Edge that may help. Flash in Edge is updated by Microsoft through Windows Update.

 

Those are separate browsers. IE is available in Start, the W section and Windows Accessories. You can right-click it and Pin to Start or click More then Pin to Taskbar [I do it that way]. Some of Microsoft's own sites will not recognize Edge such as getting some updates so IE is still useful. I have a choice of installed browsers, Edge, IE11, Firefox, SeaMonkey and Apple Safari.

Edge uses a stylized 3 and IE uses the e with a gold ring transecting it.
