  1. Running WMP on Windows 10 won't rip to library

Trying to rip a cd to library, as soon as WMP loads the cd in the drive, status already says 'Ripped To Library'. Ripping is being done on my laptop which is NOT where my WMP music collection is stored and used. I rip tracks here, then move them to my music system. Have ripped this CD partially before, but files have been deleted.

    WMP Rip To Library

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that the path in Rip settings in Windows Media Player reverts to default when you try to rip music. We will certainly look into this for you.

For better clarity on the issue, please let us know:

    • What is the version of Windows 10 that is currently installed on your computer? You can click on Search and type
      winver.
    • Are you aware of any recent changes to the system, such as updates, after which you are facing this issue?
    • Does this issue occur when you rip any type of CDs?
    • Are you using any removable device such as flash drive or external hard drive as the destination location for ripped files?

Meanwhile, we can go ahead and try a few steps.

Method 1: Add Folder to libraries

    1. To do this, first use option to Show libraries in File Explorer
    2. Go to the folder where you save the ripped files.
    3. Right click on the folder name and select the option “Include in Library”. You can select
      Music.
    4. Once you add the location, try changing the location in Rip Music tab in
      Windows Media Player.
    5. Check if the files are ripped to the correct location.

If issue persists, you can try to
    Restore Default Libraries
    and then try,

Method 2: Re-install Windows Media Player

    1. Click the Start button, type
      features
, and then select Turn Windows features on or off.
    2. Expand Media Features and see whether the
Windows Media Player check box is selected. If it is, clear the check box.
    3. Click OK and then restart your PC. This will remove your current version of Windows Media Player.
    4. After your PC has restarted, repeat step 1.
    5. Expand Media Features and select the
      Windows Media Player check box.
    6. Click OK and then restart your PC. This will reinstall the latest version of Windows Media Player for your system (Windows Media Player 12, with a few exceptions).
    7. Try to Rip CD and check.

Let us know the results. If issue still persists, we will certainly assist you further.

    Regards,

  3. WMP Rip To Library

I use Windows Media Player to rip audiobook CDs to my hard drive.

When I start a new audiobook I open WMP, click tools, options, rip music.

Under rip music to this location I click change and select the folder that I want the files to go into. Then click okay and apply.

This morning I found that the files have been going to WMP-music.

I tried twice to send the files to the proper location but the options keep resetting to WMP-music.

I have ben ripping audiobook files using WMP for over a year and no problems.

    What do you suggest?
