  2. BSODs, even after fresh windows install

    Folder containing dumps, dxdiags, etc

    PC Investigation – Google Drive

    Causes

Started when upgrading old system, components are:

    • i9 14900k - CPU
    • ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI - MOBO
    • Kingston 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 6000MHz CL36 FURY Beast - RAM
    • Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 - CPU Cooler
    • be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 1000W - PSu
    • DeepCool CH510 Mesh Digital - Case

    Old components were:

    • I7-8700k - CPU
    • Corsair Vengeance LPX 4x8Gb - RAM
    • ROG Strix z370-E - MOBO

    Components carried over were:

    • ROG Strix Gforce RTX 3080 10Gb - GPU
    • Nvme Samsung 970 Evo - SSD (Windows install)
    • Seagate BarraCuda 2TB - HDD (Just storage)

I cannot remember exactly but either when upgrading, or shortly before I had upgraded to windows 11 from windows 10. I did not wipe everything when upgrading.

None of the mentioned issues were present before the upgrade, and the system was stable prior.

    Version

Current windows version is: Windows 11 Home 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3296)

    BSODs

    • IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL - While compiling rust project with lots of dependencies from scratch
    • BEDaisy.sys PAGE_FAULT - While playing escape from tarkov, does not happen immediately
    • PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA - Not specific to anything
    • Various other BSODS that happened before I started keeping track of everything
    • DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL - While compiling rust project with lots of dependencies from scratch
    • CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED - While compiling rust project with lots of dependencies from scratch

Note: I use compiling a rust project from scratch as a benchmark essentially, all of these BSODs have occurred while doing other things too.

    Other

    • STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION error while compiling rust projects. Known to be an issue of this because the projects compiled fine on previous machines, and retrying the compilation a few times manages to compile all the dependencies. (NOT BSOD)
    • Turning on XMP makes the system infinitely more unstable, usually BSODs within minutes of startup if doing something intensive like compiling.
    • While in safe boot, constant ctfmon.exe popups about buffer overflows.
    • Discord and Discord Canary randomly restarting.

    Attempted Fixes

    • Update graphics drivers
    • Update BIOS to latest version
    • Try running system with only one of the two ram sticks, issues persist. Mainly tested with STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION error while compiling rust projects.
    • Update windows
    • SFC /Scannow - Finds no issues
    • Windows Memory Diagnostics - Finds no issues
    • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth - Finds no issues
    • Memtest86+, 10 tests, 14 passes, no XMP - No errors
    • Completely fresh windows install, removing all partitions - Managed to compile a rust project like twice before it started breaking again (note, have not been able to compile one even once beforehand, out of few dozen tests)
    • Settings RAM frequencies and voltages to exactly what’s listed as “supported” on TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI|Motherboards|ASUS Global - Still broken
    • Undervolting RAM to 1.1V - Still broken
    • Using a pair of new ram sticks - Still broken
    • Unplugging GPU in case it was drawing too much power - Still broken

    Black screen after exiting games

    Hi all,

Ever since I installed the Windows 10 Anniversary edition update a few weeks ago, I've been having a weird display issue.

Every time I finishing playing a game, upon exiting back to Windows my desktop is completely black. After some trial and error I've found that disconnecting the HDMI cable from my monitor for a couple of seconds and then plugging it back in results in the correct display.

I've done some Googling and it's been suggested that Windows may be showing me a "ghost display"; that is, a display that it thinks exists, but actually doesn't.

However, I don't believe that is my issue, as in advanced Display Settings, no second monitor is displayed, and one is not detected when I click "Detect". In addition, the Intel HD Graphics application does not show/detect any non-existent device.

It was also suggested that my D-Sub connector may be faulty and thinking that there is a second display when there is not, but connecting a second screen via that port and then playing/exiting a game results in the same issue.

I'm currently at a loss as to what the issue could be, so if anyone has any hints/tips as to what my next steps should be (or, of course, the answer), I'd be grateful for your assistance.

    Thanks,
    David

High end build, stuttering in every game

    Hello, this is my build:

    • i5-6600k
    • ASUS MAXIMUS RANGER VIII
    • MSI GTX 1060 6G
    • Samsung SSD 850 evo 250gb
    • WD Caviar Blue 1TB
    • G.Skill Ripjaws V 3200 DDR4 (XMP profile)
    • Dual monitor: Zowie XL2411 144hz + BenQ GW2260 60Hz
I get stuttering in the following titles:

    • Rocket League: every time a new player join a match the game freeze, also when V-Sync is on I get random lag from 144 to 130 and then the game continue to run smoothly.
    • GTA V: random stuttering Online and fps drops, V-Sync on.
    • PUBG: random stuttering, V-Sync off.
    • Rust: stuttering when loading chunks with fps drops.
    • Ark: as Rust.
    • Total War Warhammer: random stuttering in the strategic map, V-Sync on.
    What I've done till now:

    • Tried every graphic settings.
    • All kind of Windows 10 optimizations like Performance mode, Xbox game mode off, disabled unnecessary services and tasks, no antivirus (Windows Defender on only).
    • Hard drive defragmentation.
    • Nvidia control panel optimizations for every game like Thread optimization, tried several v-sync modes, etc.
    • All drivers are updated.
    • No pending Windows updates.
    • Temps are fine, GPU and CPU never go above 65C.
    • Shadowplay overlay off.
    • Playing with one monitor at once.
    • Moved games from HDD to SSD.
    • Tried different version of GPU drivers.
    • Disabled the page on the HDD and fixed its size on the SSD with the reccommended value.
    • Memtest for both RAM stick at once (8 pass each no errors).
What I've not tried yet is to reinstall the OS... benchmarks and performance in game are ok and in line with every other user... do you have any suggestions? Could it be network related? How can I analyze the stuttering?

PS: I'm testing with Latencymon and doing some screenshot of gpu and cpu usage
