Windows 10: S-ata hard drive issue

Hi. I'm having some issues with a 500GB s-ata hard drive. It seems almost unusable as it often disconnects by itself, when trying to download with utorrent I get the message "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error". Just now I got the same message from windows when trying to create a new folder just after a full format. I've downloaded "seatools for windows" and run every one of the tests and it passes all of them. I've also tried different s-ata cables and power cables. Is it possible to have a drive this faulty without any tests being able to detect it? Seems odd *Sad

My DVD/RW drive is not recognized by Windows 10

Under drives it shows my printer, my hard drive and my c drive. No IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.

 

Windows update from 1703 to 1709 stopped hardrives showing up

Hope Microsoft engineers can help on this issues. And for them to have a great Christmas!

The Hard drives are not showing up in Explorer
after looking in Computer Management they are still showing up in there. But after changing the hard drives around from 3g sockets to 6G sockets via hardware! I realized it was the updates, 100% that is causing the issues

Only the Ata sata3G was effected on the hard drives

Was ok and still showing up on the Ata sata6G hard drives

Motherboard is a Asus

P8 Z68-V Pro see page 2-23 in the Asus manual E6502

Did a rollback from 1709 back to 1703 to fix this issue but this is not a fix for future updates, this needs resolving to get then Sata3g hard Drives to carry on working.

Any help much appreciated or the code to play around with?

Check advanced settings in your power plan, maybe going to sleep but not waking up in time.
