Windows 10: Sabrent Bluetooth no longer working

Hi guys,


First time asking a question in here, for context im generally an experienced pc operator, but this has me really stumped.

My PC is custom built, it is:


Ryzen 5 3600

MSI Evoke OC Radeon 5700 XT full AMD - first time

MSI Atx B450M Pro VDH Max

Corsair 3200 mhz ram

NZXT AIO


So the pc is a total machine, runs Win 10 x64 product key verified.

I bought a Sabrent BT-UB40 dongle as the mobo doesn't have BT, but when the dongle was hooked up, it immediately worked, great i thought and carried on as usual, but sometimes connection wasn't the best for xbox controller, and so i looked up the drivers online, which ended up being CSR drivers, which somehow uninstalled the existing, idk, default Win 10 bluetooth drivers? Anyway, said drivers are definitely the correct drivers, but they are awful, don't work whatsoever, so I uninstalled them, tried all different ports, but now bluetooth says "Couldn't connect, here are some things to try"


It is present in device manager under "Other Devices" and named "CSR_BTPORT_01" but I can't get any further than that.

I was going to ask if anyone knew where the 'Default' windows bluetooth drivers are located on C:\ but if anyone has any better ideas then that'd be awesome too as im not a sysadmin. Cheers! :

Can't get Bluetooth working...

If your sure that its recognised properly then have a look on this links page http://www.holtmann.org/linux/bluetooth/

The only thing i can think of to fix if it isnt recognised by linux is the following:

Firstly you have to find out what chipset your bluetooth dongle uses.
Secondly i think your going to have to basically compile your own kernel and include the module for the chipset that your bluetooth dongle uses.
Thirdly depending on if you add it to the kernel or as like built in you will have to add the name of the module to a config file which is used when you boot linux.

If the kernel doesnt have support for your bluetooth dongle then you can either try and find a different copy of the kernel which does or try and find the driver for it.

To recompile your own kernel however requires a whole guide itself , plus different linux distro's will have different kernels with different options and slightly different config files.

Only thing i can suggest is going to www.gentoo.org and reading through their handbook, its basically step by step setting up linux manually, in the handbook there is a page or two on recompiling your kernel for your particular configuration.

 

Desktop Bluetooth went missing...

Yes, it came with a cd and although the device is supposed to be plug n play, after it would apparently not start I installed the cd to no change. Sabrent support advised I remove it after trbl shooting did not resolve the bluetooth issue.

All the usb ports are working and the Sabrent device is listed in Devices and Printers.
