Windows 10: Safe to update Windows 10 to 1809?

Hi,


Is it safe to update Windows to 1809 now? I understood there was a bug that erased data on secondary drives. I do have a backup but would rather avoid the unpleasantry.


When I go through the normal Windows Update process, I'm not getting the option of updating to 1809. I read that there's some ML model at MS that prioritizes devices based on the device. Since I have home assembled Core I7 with 16G, is that a reason why the ML model wouldn't pick it up? Should I go through the force update steps?

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Is it safe to download the 1809 update
