"Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" functionality broken after 20H2 update

After the 20H2 update an old problem seems to have come back.

My icon to safely remove USB devices shows up in the tray if I plug in a USB device, but if I click on the icon the functionality to remove a device is gone.

The tooltip on the icon shows "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" but a click on the icon shows the headline "Open devices and Printers"

The issue is exactly the same as complained about a few years ago in this thread'Missing Eject in "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" List

I ran sfc /verifyonly but I only see that it wants to reset my more logically arranged start menu to the somewhat messy arrangement that Microsoft prescribes.

    :)

Missing Eject in "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" List

    Hi Tze Lin Wong,

The configuration to this can be found under settings. To enable this feature follow these steps:

    1. Right-click the taskbar and select Taskbar settings.
    2. Under Notification Area, choose
Select which icons appear on the taskbar.
    3. Scroll to Windows Explorer: Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media
      and turn it on.

If this doesn't work, I suggest that you check with your USB drive manufacturer for new drivers or other updates.

    All the best.

  3. Missing Eject in "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" List

I use to be able to eject my USB drive via "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" with list as below:

    - Open Devices and Printers
    - Eject Data Traveler 111
    - USB Drive (D"Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" functionality broken after 20H2 update :)
    - Eject My Passport Ultra
    - My Passport (E"Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" functionality broken after 20H2 update :)

However recently the "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" list seems corrupted and shows:

    - Open Devices and Printers
    - USB Drive (D"Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" functionality broken after 20H2 update :)

    - My Passport (E"Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" functionality broken after 20H2 update :)

with { - USB Drive (D"Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" functionality broken after 20H2 update :) } and { - My Passport (E"Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" functionality broken after 20H2 update :) } are grayed out.

Currently the only way for me is go to file explorer and right click the removable drive and click Eject.

    Please help!
