Windows 10: Samsung laptop driver issues

So I'm having a problem with drivers. Mostly with function keys/trackpad and settings software. Samsung has a settings software that controls a bunch of stuff on the laptop. Normally I wouldn't bother with such software but its directly affecting my battery. I guess there is a power saving mode in the software that prevents the battery from charging above 80%. I can install the software and run it in the hidden admin account but once I reboot into my normal local admin account the software is not compatible because Microsoft doesn't trust the publisher (Samsung). I tried to unblock the software and install it. I also tried to use file unsigner and I couldn't get that to do anything with the driver/software.

My function keys work for the most part. I had to install something called easy settings to get that to function better but I have a feeling that other "Settings" software needs to work properly in junction with the Easy Settings software.

Frustrating thing is things work well in the hidden admin account. I feel because of that there should be some way to get it to work in local admin account. Maybe I'm incorrect about that.

Another thing that started happening was an error. OneDrive cant be run using full administrator rights. Please restart onedrive without admin rights" I don't even care if OneDrive runs. I just don't want this error anymore. Thanks for the help

OneDrive has a little icon in the systray next to the clock. Rightclick this item and somewhere it has a few settings, in which you can select that OneDrive should not start with Windows.

Let me summarize the other problem: You have an application, which works if run in the hidden admin account, but which does not work, if run in the local admin account.

Are there different types of admin accounts in Windows 10? That would be new to me...

Yeah apparently there are. So from my understanding the main local account IS an administrator account but its not 100% admin. You have to run the command prompt with admin rights and type in something like net user: administor: yes... I know that is not exactly it but something like that. And that activates the hidden admin account which i suppose is 100%admin. and yes the software runs with that admin account but not a normal admin account...


*I have figured out the battery issue. There is a place in the BIOS to allow 100% charge. Which ive never seen in BIOS. Still having the other issues. thanks for your time.

 

There obviously is a account type. I think it is a normal admin account.

I think you should be able to solve this issue by unblocking the publisher of that application. This should work like so:

1. In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
2. Go to the Content tab, Look under the Certificates section.
3. Click on Publishers button.
4. Select the Untrusted Publishers tab.
5. Select the Publisher you wish to unblock and click the Remove button.

 

Thanks for response. I tried those steps but there was not any untrusted publishers in the list. Would that be only for websites and not software? either way no body was blocked in that section.

As far as the hidden admin account goes. I cant find the website since ive looked at so many but if i do ill post it here. Basically someone said something along the lines that the reason we cant do everything in the local admin account is obviously for security reasons and they went on and compared it to apple and how they are more secure because of something similar. I dont know im just going off stuff i had read. All i know is there is some kind of difference in the accounts because i can open the software in the hidden admin account but the publisher is blocked in local admin account...?? thanks again.

 

Login to your local admin account is not enough to run everything with administrator's rights. Right click on the setup program and select Run as administrator. This will allow the software to make any changes necessary to the system folders and registry to install itself. Then if you see that running the utility normally doesn't work well, you can make it always run with administrator rights. Right click on the utility can select Properties, Compatibility and check the Run as administrator. I would also set it for all users, just to be on the safe side. The utility that enables the extra keys is usually Launcher or something similar. Also I don't think the power utility of the notebook would be better than the power management of Windows, but you can try both and see which works best.
