Samsung Odyssey's display is showing part of 2 lenses and deforming the view as the headset...

    Hi,

I have an issue I didn't find a fix for.

I use a Samsung Odyssey since a while now, but, one of the last updates, there was an issue. I uninstalled the mixed reality portal and reinstalled it, and since then, the display is strange.

As described in the title the view has 2 issues.

The first from my right and my left eye I can see 2 projections that are displayed in the shape of the lenses the left display is seen in full, the right display is only a small section. It's possible that I lost some width of display overall in the process.

The second issue is that as I rotate the headset horizontally, while it rotates on the correct axis, the 3D perspective is either stretched or is compacted, skewing the view in the process. When rotating my head vertically, the view tilts in the correct axis but with a small tilt in another axis, which as well deforms the view.

I tried uninstalling the mixed reality portal again but it didn't fix it, it's still the same.

It used to work well, I only have the issue since the last few days after a couple of weeks without using the headset.

Any tips for a fix or toubleshooting would help.

    Thanks

    :)

  2. Samsung Odyssey Headset

    Hi,

Error 43 mostly is driver related. In your case, the Odyssey requires hardware specification. Check the product manual for the specification. If the problem isn't in the specification, we suggest contacting the manufacturer for driver
update and the list of compatible devices for Samsung Odyssey.

Update us if you need further assistance.

    All the best.

  3. Samsung's Odyssey Headset is New Leader in Windows Mixed Reality

Last week, images of Samsung's upcoming Windows Mixed Reality headset known as Odyssey were leaked to the Internet. Earlier this week, Microsoft confirmed these leaks by listing the headset for preorder on their own store with product images, as well as a list of specifications that indicate the Oddysey offers superior hardware and features compared to its competition. The new headset boasts OLED displays with a resolution of 1440x1600 per eye, higher than other Windows Mixed Reality headsets as well as both the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. In addition to the extra pixels to combat the screen-door effect commonly noticed in VR headsets, the OLED technology is expected to provide improved low persistence, resulting in a sharper image and less blurring with movement compared to LCD-based headsets. In addition, Odyssey is the first Windows Mixed Reality headset to feature built-in audio in the form of integrated headphones. These improvements, combined with hardware interpupillary distance adjustment and a wider field of view (up to 110°) on par with the Vive and Rift, help it stand out from its direct competitors.

Microsoft's Windows Mixed Reality platform is set to be released alongside the Windows 10 Fall Creator's Update on October 17th, and provides a software platform for immersive virtual reality and augmented reality headsets from various manufacturers including Samsung, Dell, Acer, HP, and Lenovo, as well as Microsoft's own HoloLens project. These headsets will come at various price points ranging from $399 to $599 USD. Microsoft's listing puts the Samsung Odyssey's price at $500 USD including motion controllers, which interestingly puts the headset in competition with the Oculus Rift, despite Samsung's partnership with Oculus on the mobile-powered Gear VR. Microsoft has since taken down the listing, but the page is archived.

Samsung HMD Odyssey+ headset mic does not work

    Samsung HMD Odyssey+ headset

    Windows 10 1803

    I7 CPU 16mb RAM

    Asus gaming 270F motherboard

    Asus 1080TI video card

    EVO SSD 970 hard drive

This headset mic does not work no matter what I have tried. It was working at my other house. Now I set it all up at the new location and MIC doesn't work. Everything else works fine in RecRoom and VR Chat.

    1. Rebooted many times.
    2. Reconnect Samsung Odyssey WRM headset while PC is on.
    3. Disable / re-enable "Realtek USB2.0 Audio" device.
    4. Download and install the latest RealTek 2.0 USB drivers.
    5. Check audio level menu's for MUTE and levels.
    6. Disabled and removed the "Screaming Bee Audio" mic device used by MorphVOX Pro voice changer.
    7. Changed USB port location for Windows Mixed Reality headset USB cable. No extensions on cable used. Two USB ports on the back of PC I tried. One of them was working 100% fine for a year before.
    8. Device Manager: "Mixed Reality Devices" displays Samsung Odyssey WRM headset 800ZBA
    9. Task Manager: Memory 9gb our of 16gb used
    10. Task Manager: average 50% CPU load
    11. No 3rd party USB adapters. Only using the back 4 USB ports for Mouse, Keyboard, USB WiFI adapter and the Odyssey headset.
    12. Confirmed that the PRIVACY settings is all set to ON for all applications and the MIC io is set to ON.
    13. STEAM Options: Playback and Record Devices are set for the "Realtek USB2.0 Audio" choice.
