Windows 10: Samsung S3 Portable Hard Drive found on Devices but not File Explorer

Hi!I am trying to back up the photos on my iPhone onto my Samsung S3 hard drive.- I connected both my iPhone and my hard drive onto my HP 15 laptop- I can access my iPhone photos on file explorer - The hard drive cannot be found on file explorer, so I cannot copy my photos onto my hard drive- Both devices show under Bluetooth & Devices > Devices > Other DevicesThis message will not allow me to attach screenshots, so here is a description of what I see:In File Explorer:This PC> Apple iPhone> Windows C:NetworkIn Devices:Other DevicesApple iPhone green dot underneathSamsung S3

Samsung Portable M3 1TB hard drive cannot be read in file explorer

I have connected my Samsung Portable M3 1TB hard drive to a Windows 10 laptop, and the hard drive is being read in Devices and Printers and Disk Management however is not coming up on File Explorer, so I cannot access any information on my hard drive.

Have already tried:

Devices and Printers ; Samsung M3 Portable ; Troubleshoot ; troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem ; troubleshooting report ; no issues detected = did not fix issue

Windows + R ; devmgmt.msc ; update driver ; search automatically ; best driver already installed = did not fix issue

Windows + R ; devmgmt.msc ; uninstall ; restart computer = did not fix issue

Windows + R ; devmgmt.msc ; properties ; general ; this device is working properly = did not fix issue

I have very important data on this hard drive and would like a resolution as soon as possible. I have followed instructions on previous threads on solutions but none have worked.

Samsung M3 Portable Hard Drive doesn't like Windows 10

I have the same issue. I just bought a Samsung M3 portable 1tb drive. It is not recognised by the PC. I have checked the drivers on the motherboard and the external drive shows up on the device list of the motherboard as a disconnected device, but Win
10 will not recognise it in file explorer.

So I know the issue is not my motherboard. It must be windows 10. I can't uninstall the USB device from device manager because it is simply not listed in the devices.

What can the problem be here?

Use the hardware troubleshooter to fix the issue

The Hardware Troubleshooter is an automated tool which will check the hardware connected to the computer for any known issues with it and provides the details and on how to fix them. Follow these steps and run the troubleshooter.

Follow these steps:

• Press Windows key to get the Start menu.
• Type Troubleshooting in the search box right up corner and hit enter.
• Click on Troubleshooting tab.
• Click on view all option on the upper left corner.
• Select the Hardware and Device options from the list.
• Click Next to run the Hardware and Device Troubleshooter.
