Windows 10: SanDisk Cruzer USB stopped working after Windows Update

After the February 27, 2025 Windows 11 update, Windows would not load any files from the SanDisk Cruzer Glide USB that contained all of my photos. Files from a Lexor USB loaded just fine. I tried the SanDisk USB on a different computer that runs Windows 10, and the files loaded as they should. I uninstalled the February 27th update on the Windows 11 computer, and then the SanDisk files loaded. Something is missing from the latest Windows 11 update that affects this SanDisk USB storage device.

Sandisk usb cruzer corrupted?

This shows the K: drive as being healthy. But this SANDISK CRUZER is 128GB, this says it's only 64GB. That makes it seems like the other half isn't being recognized.
"worked a little bit" - yes, it worked a little bit. I was in the middle of getting the files off the drive, but the laptop quit seeing the drive. I got that to work by using REGEDIT and removed all the USB files connected to the USB in the registry. Then I inserted in the USB again. I may have to do this several times in order to get all the files.

So, I did my trick again where I use the registry editor to remove all the VID_0781 files in the registry. It worked again, but it literally gets dropped again, NOTE the "not responding" message.

I have 3 SanDisk Cruzers, all 16GB and they work fine with 10. They show up as

SanDisk Cruzer USB Device under Disk Drives in Device Manager.

 

Is my SanDisk Cruzer destroyed?


I plugged in my USB drive and I get notification USB device not recognized. In This PC it shows but it looks like this:



When I right click to try and format it, nothing happens. I also tried renaming the drive letter, nothing. I tried many USB fix tools, such as, USB drive defender, Flobo, mUSB Fixer, USB Refresh, USBFix 2016, and most of them didn't even see the device in the list. I am running out of ideas. If it is of any help, it's SanDisk Cruzer 16GB.

And of course, it does not want to run format...
