    Sandisk WD SSD not behaving

Hi,I have a 1 or 2tb cant recall which sandisk external ssd.It has not been used much at all.I am sure that there is data on the disk, however when I connect it windows wants to format it and of course wipe the ssd.and of course windows will not currently show the disk in explorer. What the most efficient was to check that the disk contains files/data, or overide/ignore this format request...and proceed with it in Windows explorer.Should I perhaps run a third party app if IT can recognise it, such as ASC or Winoptimiser?Or?Thanks in advance

    :)
