    Good morning Folks, *Smile
Last night I woke my sleeping desktop to have this notification appear:
"IAStorIcon-Intel Rapid Storage Technology-SATA available disk: Removed" (image attached)
    -
This new - 2 week old - desktop has been performing flawlessly up to now.
Since this appeared to be a hardware issue I chose not to run a system restore; rather I went for a restart that worked, but my secondary (Data) HDD was still not recognized.
    Disk Management confirmed this.
    -
    Next:
    Shutdown
    Removed Drive
Checked SATA cable on MB (OK)
    Reinstalled HDD
Booted and found no change. Disk Management confirmed this again.
    -
Since there has been no problems or warnings about upcoming disk failure and since it is only a few weeks old, I'm turning to my friends here for any thoughts before I head back to the store. i.e. can you offer any thoughts on other tests I can try?
~ Thanks very much to all!
    *Cool

    :)

Lost SATA HDD and SATA DVD after Windows 10 update

I have lost a secondary SATA HDD and SATA DVD drive after a Fast Ring Windows 10 Build update. Both the missing drives are on the same SATA channel.

They DO show up in BIOS, but they do NOT show in either Windows Explorer or Windows Disk Management.

Was it the Windows 10 update that did this, or did they coincidently die?

What can I do to fix this? All of my personal data and backups are on the missing HDD. I have tried running 3rd party diagnostic tools, but they do not find the missing drives; neither SATA HDD or SATA DVD.

Disk boot failure after removing old Vista partition

Thank you for the reply, muchomurka! As I indicated in my post, I have already tried all the steps you suggested to no avail:

    - I cannot choose startup repair since the computer does not boot from the installation media
    - I cannot use command prompt since the computer does not boot further than the POST screen
    - I have disconnected and tried out all hard drives individually.

Since I had Win 10 up and running a few hours ago, I can say with 100% certainty that none of the hardware is faulty.

The real mystery is, how come the system won't boot from any media without an empty disk containing an old Vista boot sector being on top of the boot priority list? And which steps to take now that I've cleaned this disk and it does not exist anymore?

Would appreciate any ideas and pointers!

Error connecting SATA disk to Windows 10 using a SATA to USB harness

Tried running troubleshooter and restart as you suggested. I cannot allocate a Drive letter. Device Manager sees the device and driver ok. Says ASMT 2105 and says device is working properly. If I use Disk Manager it sees the device but says Dynamic Invalid.
It won't let me reactivate as it says it can't do this on an invalid Disk Pack. If I go to use Convert to Basic Disk it says I will loose data. This disk was the Disk 0 bootable disk for Windows 7. So it will have a boot sector and and a reserved section
etc. Then 2 main partitions. The first was the old partition mounted on C: as the OS 'disk'. The second partition was where I put some other data. I can't allocate a drive letter to this disk as I can't see any partitions. The driver is loading Ok.
But I am just not seeing this disk via the USB connection via the SATA cradle. Thanks for the suggestions but they don't solve the problem. The idea of the SATA saddle is so that I can connect SATA disks is necessary. I have looked in the Event Log but
cannot see anything obvisous. It also keep trying to do something with this disk/saddle. So something comes up and then disappears.
