  1. Sata Drives are not connecting or showing up after installing m.2 fresh windows 10 install

So, this is my story enjoy finding out how to figure it out.

I recently bought a 500gb m.2 drive. Alongside this, I have two other drives connected by SATA cables directly connected to the motherboard. I used an external HDD to install my fresh copy of windows 10 onto my new m.2 drive. When in the options to select what drives to use to install windows 10 there are no other drives that are still connected via SATA to my motherboard. I continued anyway and installed windows and everything is fine, other then the fact both my SSD and HDD SATA are not there. I went to the disk manager to see if I could format any drives and nothing was showing up except my external USB.

So I cannot find my SATA connected disk drives in bios as well.

I decided to see if my disk drives were broken or something was wrong with them because they are not showing up anywhere. So I took out the m.2 from my motherboard and when I started my computer my SSD and HDD were there and my old windows 10 was showing up. So what I decided to do is to get my external USB and start up the boot device with the external USB as if I'm going to install windows 10, but I formatted the drives and deleted other volumes to see if they would then appear. Put the m.2 back into the motherboard and still nothing!

So if someone could help me fix my problem that would be great.

My motherboard is old but everything is getting recognized perfectly fine it's just the m.2 doesn't want to read my SATA drives!!?!?!?!?!?!!?

    :)

My current windows 10 installation wont find my new m.2 drive at but..

@xdarkmario - Which model drive do you have?

Some boards share a traditional SATA socket with an m.2 slot, so if you already have a drive on the SATA socket, it won't recognize the m.2.

I'm assuming when you install windows on it, you are taking the 100GB drive out? that may suggest the shared conflict I mentioned. Which SATA socket are you installing the 100GB drive in?

Ok, looking at the manual, it looks like you can have either 1 m.2, 1 Sata Express, or 2 Sata3 drives connected to the same channel, but only one of those combinations. The Sata express sockets are the lighter color I believe. It says this:

It seems to suggest that the m.2 should take priority, but documentation isn't always correct.

Sata Drives are not connecting or showing up after installing m.2 fresh windows 10 install

    Fresh windows install help.

    Hi.
I have Samsung Series 7 NP7005ZA-S0AUS laptop pc. I decided to do a fresh windows install so I used a flash drive to re-install windows (I formatted the hard drive at the begnining of the installation). When the laptop booted first time in the installation process, I got a screen saying boot menu but it's empty. I clicked alt+ctl+de, the laptop restarts and gets me back to the same screen. I entered the bios and made sure the hd is on the top of the list and save/restarted but same issue. I tried loading bios default settings and that did not help either. I noticed in the boot menu that there are exclamation marks next to the HD and the SATA DVD drives, not sure what that means but they were not there before. I honestly think a bios update can do the trick but there is no way to upgrade the bios of a samsung laptop without Windows like my case so I am stuck.
Any help will be very much appreciated.
Notice: The hard drive has 8GB msata built in.
