Windows 10: SATA DVD Rewriter Driver for Windows 11

I have an old DVD Drive Hitachi HL Model GH50N - ROM Version B100 from an old desktop that I am trying to use on my new Samsung Book Pro 360 running Windows 11. I have it connected using a USB 3.0 to 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD cable.The notebook will not recognize the drive when I plug it in. The drive bay will open and close, lights up, etc., but the drive is not visible in File Explorer. What am I doing wrong? Is this the wrong cable? Do I need a special driver? Thanks in advance!

From the description of the issue, I understand that Windows is unable to configure the driver for the DVD ROM.

I would suggest you to follow the below recommended methods and see if it helps.

Method 1:As an initial recommendation, I would suggest you to run the follow these steps to run the windows
in built troubleshooter to detect issues, if any.

a) Write Troubleshooting in the search box and hit enter.

b) Click on Troubleshooting
tab.

c) Click on view all option on the upper left corner.

d) Select the Hardware and Device
options from the list.

e) Click Next to run the Hardware and Device
Troubleshooter.

Method 2:

If the above recommendation does not help.
I would suggest you to install the driver for the DVD ROM in compatibility mode and check.

Follow the steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode.

• 
  Download the latest installation package for your DVD ROM device driver on your computer.
  
• 
  Right-click on the setup file and click on "Properties".
  
• 
  Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select previous Operating System from the drop down.
  
• 
  Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.

DVD rewriter

I have just upgraded to Windows 10 and everything seems to be Ok except the dvd rewriter rom has disappeared from the list of installed devices. having searched in vain for some help from the dvd manufacturer I have purchased new device only to find this also is
not recognised when searching for new devices.

Is there a simple fix to this unfortunate glitch in windows 10 upgrade?
