    Windows 10 Pro

Every time I'm downloading a file and the "Save as" explorer opens, it usually points to the last used folder.

It's OK because I usually save files in a download disk with an easy-to-browse folder structure. That's why I don't want to keep to the same Download folder all the time, or why I don't use pinned locations.

However, I also often need to download to another specific location another disk, another folder, and so on.

If I try to browse to that location, either by selecting other folders on the left directory panel, or by double-clicking folders on the right panel, the explorer regularly jumps back to the initial location, which is very frustrating and time-consumming.

    Why is that?

I found many similar reports with various work-arounds that don't work for me like setting colour sampling to off.

How can I get rid of this annoyance? Or is there a fix on the way?

    :)

    inprivate browsing

Thank you for the feedback, David. Generally, InPrivate browsing will not be active and need to be initiated manually. If
InPrivate browsing opens when you try to launch Internet Explorer, you can try these steps to disable it:

    • Right-click on the Internet Explorer icon and click-on
      Properties
      .
    • Under Target, the path should be "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" (with the quotation marks.) If
-inprivate is suffixed, removed it and click the OK button.

Let us know how it goes.

File Explorer jump list doesn't consistently show location popups

    Thanks for your reply.

Whatever "it" is exactly, all I know is, it does not behave consistently. This is so across multiple systems. Also, it isn't just recent items, but pinned items that fail to produce the popup on mouse over (when they should).

If the File Explorer setting you're referring to is "Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items," I already have that turned on.

Based on my tests, I tend to think this is a bug. Did you try reproducing it?

    1. Right click File Explorer in taskbar to open the jump list.
    2. Mouse over any of the pinned or recent folders and see if the popup with the location path appears (as shown in the screenshot with the original post).
    3. If it does appear, close out of the jump list by left clicking anywhere outside of it.
    4. Repeat steps 1-3 until you find the popups not appearing. In my experience, it always occurs, even if not right away. And all too often when I need them most.

Scroll bar keeps resetting in Windows File Explorer.

For some reason, when I'm browsing a long list of files, if I stop moving my scroll wheel for a few seconds, the scroll bar in the file explorer jumps back up to the very top. Which is annoying when I'm browsing a folder that has hundreds of files in it.
This only happens in the file explorer. Any suggestions?
