Windows 10: says it can't detect a second monitor but shows two displays

After I replaced the hard drive on my two-year-old HP, I cannot get the display to extend rather than duplicate mode. Both monitors work, independently or together. The computer insists it can't detect a second display, and it will only show one of the monitors in settings it will show whichever one I've plugged in first. All drivers are supposedly up to date. The extend function worked fine before the new hard drive and reinstall of Windows 10. Any suggestions?

Monitor Error "Didn't detect another display"

Hi I plugged in a second monitor but in the display settings it says "Didn t detect another display, though I m actually watching my laptop screen in the second monitor

Windows won't detect by second display.

I have my monitor and TV connected to my GPU. In Display Settings, under Rearrange your displays I have the 2nd highlighted. Clicking the Detect button will render: Code:

It isn't listed in Devices:

Will not Detect Second Monitor- Display Adapter?

Back story- After windows 10 update last night my older second display stopped working, my LG was working just fine. I went through all the regular suggestions on this site and everywhere else on the Internet, the monitor was so old it did not have any
driver to update, according to Acer. So I bought a new one! Now both monitors are on (just a copy of each other) but the system, in the device manager, only shows one display, the new one?! I can not find my original working LG anywhere. The Settings panel
does not even "detect" a second display and I do not have the option of changing the resolution, it's grayed out. I have checked the adapter properties on that page and tried to update, the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, but it all says its up to date, even
tried through Windows updates. The one monitor that is showing up is all updated. I did notice that my display adapter as shows in Device Manager, shows a little yellow warning triangle and when I go in it says under properties, "Windows has stopped this device
because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" When I try to update it says that the best device has already been installed- Intel(R) HD Graphics!! Waaa! I need to get back to work, please, somebody help! Thanks!
