Windows 10: SC config audiosrv start= auto not available with windows 11, no audio

Is your account an administrator account?

The 0x80070005 error signifies denied access which means insufficient privileges.

Please open a command prompt as administrator and input the following command:

This should start the audiosrv which is Windows Audio service and the second command will change the startup behavior to automatic. As it should be by default.

The third command sets the behavrior of the service upon failure. In this case it sets it to restart the service after one minute if it fails and resets the failure counter ever 1 day. As it should be by default.

Let me know if you need any more help.

I would advise you to back up your data as a core service like audiosrv not starting automatically without user interference and tweaking is under no circumstances normal within normal operation of Windows and is indicator of some system corruption.

Yeah, I too noticed that updates will require this to be done again. I made a batch file to make re-applying this workaround easier. Running the sc-command obviously requires admin privileges. Also if any audio is playing while executing, the audio device will need to be reinitialized or a full reboot might be required to get audio back. I was thinking this could be scheduled to run but I have not figured out any trigger where there is no danger of audio being played.
