Windows 10: scam?

have a windows 10 system. today I had a screen pop up saying that Microsoft had blocked further operation as I was hacked. the screen had a 1 800 number to call. it was answered by someone claiming to be a micro soft tech. they told me my network was hacked and had a virus. said this was my IP not my computer. after a long questioning and answer it boiled down to fact it would cost $249. to repair.

I would not agree. inever heard of this although have heard of where scammers call claiming to be from Micor Soft.
