Windows 10: Scan tools for desktop

I regularly want to extract text from images, and I struggle to find reliable tools in the various Microsoft product offerings which accomplish this. I know there are several ways to extract text within different applications, but would prefer not to create a new OneNote, PowerPoint or whatever other file just to extract text from a single image and sometimes creating that file doesn't even work as I expect, so it clutters my files, spends my time, and still doesn't do what I expect. On my iPhone I noticed in the Microsoft 365 app that it suggests tools called Scan Tools and PDF Tools. That'

By default, scans are saved in a Scans folder inside the Pictures. Here are the steps on how to get there:

• Press Windows and type pictures
• Click Pictures and double-click the Scans folder.

Have you tried updating your drivers? If not we suggest that you update the drivers. It is also possible that there
is a problem with the connection. Kindly check the connections too. If the issue persist, perform these following methods:

Method 1: Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.

To run the troubleshooter, follow these steps:

• 
  On the search bar, type Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Choose
  Hardware and Devices.
  
• 
  Click on
  Hardware and Devices.
  

Method 2:
Run SFC Scan.

To run an
SFC scan, follow these steps:

• 
  Run
  Command Prompt as Administrator.
  
• 
  Type
  sfc /scannow
  and hit
  Enter.
  

This will check and run an auto-repair on the issue.

Method 3:
Run DISM Tool.

After running the
SFC scan
and the issue still persist, run the
DISM
to check the system health and to try restoring the files. To run
DISM tool, follow these steps:

• 
  Run
  Command Prompt as Administrator.
  
• 
  Type the following command:
  
  • 
    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /scanhealth
    
  • 
    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
    

NOTE:
This might take a while
to finish scanning.
Do not cancel.

Virus Scan ONLY tool?

I was using Malwarebytes to run scans on things I downloaded to make sure they're clean before I run them... but now Malwarebytes wants to run constantly and wants to do virus scans all the time, even though I told it not to (I'll scan a single file then it starts another threat scan on its own).

Are there any good tools that do virus scanning only?
