Windows 10: Scanner connected via USB not recognized by its software despite disabling every firewall...

Hi there! I have a client who has a mobile scanner that comes with its own free software. She's using Windows 11. We were finally able to download the software after working around some odd permissions errors. Now, for some reason, the scanner does not register in the software like it's supposed to when connected via USB. It's likely related to Windows permissions or the firewall, but after hours of troubleshooting, we are still stuck. Other users of the scanner are using Windows 11 with absolutely no trouble. Does anyone have any ideas? -- "Add printer/scanner" is not relevant-- Bypassed the

USB Scanner not detected.

Dell tower with Windows 10 does not recognize the USB connected Epson ES-500W scanner. An iMac

when USB connected recognizes it instantly. ???? Almost two days of downloading apps and drivers and multiple re-installs, disabling USB power shutdown, etc. were not help. Suggestions?

I hesitate to suggest this, because it's far from free ($40/$80 for standard/pro), but Vuescan has your scanner on its supported list:

Unable to get Win10 to recognize EPSON 4870 Photo Scanner

I'll walk you though the steps I do to install my Perfection 1200. I have to do this periodically for some reason to reestablish the 'non-standard' Perfection 2400 driver.

1. Right click on the scanner in Device Manager (as Admin) and select Update Driver. Then select the option to browse my computer for driver software.



2. Then select Let me pick from a list of device drivers....



3. Select Imaging Devices from the next list.



4. Finally, select the correct Epson driver you have installed then click Next. If it isn't listed then something has gone wrong with the driver installation.



5. Hopefully, the scanner should now work?
