Windows 10: Scary email and phone call

    Scary email and phone call


    I received a very weird email with subject "Membership Renewal" stating that my card will be charged $499.99 for my membership to Windows Defender Defender Cloud Security. It provided a customer ID and invoice number. It stated that if I don't respond within 24 hours of the email my card will be charged! I called the number on the email 855 496-4203 and a foreign man answered like it was his personal phone!?! I asked him what this was all about and he stated that in order to cancel the so-called membership and not be charged or refunded for my membership to Windows Defender I would have to go to my computer and give him access to my computer! I SAID HELL NO!!! Windows Defender is suppose to come with my Windows 10! I told him I think he is a scam! I told him I was going to report him. He said go ahead. Call ended! The email is closed with, Sincerely, Darren Harnet, Manager - Refunds Department.... At the very bottom of the email it even has copyright 2020 Defender Incorporated.? Any one get an email like this? I'm worried... Thanks so much!

    Your list confirms my phone is eligible, Lumia 521. The windows Insider App fails after ~ 15 seconds, restores data and gives me error 80073cf9. I trouble shot this and went thru all the steps mentioned on several websites including MS without any luck. Short of a hard reset, this is where I am now. Suggestions appreciated.

    When my phone fails to upgrade I just keep trying. One upgrade took 3 or 4 tries.
