Windows 10: Scheduling Downloads

I have used group policy to schedule installs & restart at 3am on Sunday morning. (Option 4).

What I would like to do is to schedule the download, install & restart at the same time 3am Sunday.

I may be wrong but it appears to me that you can't schedule the download - just the install. - Am I correct?

I have satellite internet and I have download bandwidth available from 2:00am to 8:00am. I want to schedule downloading of automatic updates during that time...how!!!

Hi Eddy,

You can schedule automatic update download on your Windows 10 PC by setting “Active Hours”. This feature is a little limited, but you can set 12 of the 24 hours each day as “off limits” and prevent automatic restarts during those hours.
Windows still won’t restart your computer while you’re actively using it, even outside of active hours.

Below are the steps on how to set Active Hours:

• Open the Start menu and go to Settings
• Select Update and Security
• Go to Windows Update
• Click or tap Change Active Hours under Update Settings
• Set the Start time and End time for
  Active Hours, and then select Save

You could always get Windows to check at 3AM that way it would download once it's checked. To change the time Windows check for updates simply do the following...

• Go to Action Center
• Look for the Automatic Maintenance section
• Put a check in the Allow scheduled maintenance to wake up my computer at the scheduled time check-box
• Optionally set the exact time (to the hour) when Windows should wake up and check

 

Thanks will give it a try - Policy is set to install at 3am , now I will change the Automatic Maintenance to 3am

What I have just done is Change the Automatic Maintenance to 3am, then I went into policy and ticked Install during automatic maintenance - Is that the correct method.
