Windows 10: Screen blinks when using handwriting with mouse

My problem is essentially exactly what the title says. Whenever I try to use the handwriting function by clicking the keyboard at the bottom right of the screen and clicking and dragging to "handwrite," the screen will quickly blink black and then return to the normal display. It gets particularly bad when I click, release, and the computer still thinks the left mouse button is depressed, and continues handwriting as if I had not released the mouse button. In these cases, the screen repeatedly flashes between the normal display and a black still backlit screen, about twice a second. This makes handwriting essentially close to unusable on my device.


How can I fix this?

Screen Blinking

Hello,

I am recently facing a problem with windows 10 pen settings. First I noticed when I took a screenshot and like drew a line my screen blinked and after a few days I saw this problem in One note and handwriting panel even. When I write with the pen using
a mouse or touchpad (for clearance I don't have a surface pen I just draw and write with the mouse) the screen blinks and blackouts every time. Can anyone tell me why is this happening??? I have attached the video below.

Issues with the On screen keyboard and mouse pointer.

Hi Robert,

The issues with the mouse may arise due to driver conflicts and the issue related to the On Screen keyboard may be when the settings for the OSK are turned on.

For the On screen keyboard issue, I suggest you to follow the below steps.

• 
  Type Ease of Access on the search bar.
  
• 
  Choose Ease of Access and click on
  Use the Computer without a mouse or keyboard option.
  
• 
  Check if the Type using a pointing device is turned on.
  
• 
  You may uncheck that option if it is turned on.
  

Also try the below steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + R and type
  Services.msc.
  
• 
  Scroll down to find the "Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service".
  
• 
  Disable the option by right clicking on it.
  

For the Mouse issue:

I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

1. Type troubleshooting in the search bar.

2. Select Troubleshooting.

3. Select View all on the top left corner.

4. Click on Hardware
and Devices.

5. Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.

6. Check if issue persists.

Blinking Screen

Blinking screen issue is usually caused due to Video card drivers.

I suggest you to try updating the Display Adapter drivers check if it works for you.

Follow the steps to update the Display driver:

• Press Windows Key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Expand ‘Display Adapters’.
• Right-click on the Display Adapter listed and click on ‘Update Driver Software’.
• Select the option to automatically search for the updated driver software.
• Restart the computer after its updated and verify.

Also try to access the computer manufacturer's website and download the latest display drivers for your computer and install the same.

If issue still persists, I suggest you to Uninstall and reinstall the Display driver and check if it works for you.
Refer to the steps below:

Follow the steps to uninstall the Display driver:

• Press Windows Key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Expand ‘Display Adapters’.
• Right-click on the Display Adapter listed and click on ‘Uninstall’.
• Select the option to Delete driver software.
• Restart the computer after its uninstalled.

Also try to access the computer manufacturer's website and download the latest display drivers for your computer and install the same.
