    Screen brightness became too dim after a button-mash, regular settings do not help.


    My kitten was walking over the left part of the keyboard and clearly messed something up, immediately the screen brightness became dim at max. When I boot the laptop it's got its normal brightness and somehow keyboard brightness is at 100% too, but I always kept it at 0%, but when I try to adjust it - the max brightness becomes too dim again. Regular settings as adjusting brightness with a slider and through battery settings do not help. I have Windows 10 Home.

    Screen dimming even at 100% brightness

    Hi recently bought a Lenovo laptop, a Lenovo V14-ARE laptop, and as soon as I turned it on I noticed, when I put it on 100% brightness it is bright and vivid but then it dims. After a while, the screen brightens again then proceeds to dim once again in a
    few seconds. When I plug it in to charge, the screen is bright and vivid but as soon as I unplug it, it dims. I already left clicked on the power icon in the task bar, went to power options and selected "choose when to turn off the display", clicked "change
    advanced power settings", scrolled down to "display" and opened its list, but the only option I have for the display's list is "turn off display after", in the Youtube videos I've seen they have an "adaptive brightness" setting or something like that and that
    fixes their problem but I don't have that option. My power plan is also in high performance and everything is "on battery" but the problem still happens.

    Can this problem be fixed?

    When running on battery power screen automatically dims. My area is very bright and I have trouble viewing a dim screen. I have to bring the power cord where ever the monitor is located to increase the brightness. Is there no setting to adjust this?

    Try the following, it should help...

    1. Go into "Control Panel" and then search for "Power Options".

    2. Click the "Change plan settings" link next to which ever plan you are currently using and then click "Change advance power settings".

    3. In this new window click "Display" to open up the listings under it.

    4. Now locate and click each of the following..."Display brightness", "Dimmed display brightness" and"Enable adaptive brightness".

    5. Change each of these to the settings you wish, then click the "Apply" button and finally the "OK" button.

    6. You should be good.
