Windows 10: Screen brightness changing based on webpage content - very annoying!

I have a Dell XPS13 running windows 10. No issues for 2 years, but all of the sudden, the brightness is constantly changing as I view different items. If I scroll a news story, it has one brightness for text, then changes to a different brightness for an image, then a different brightness for a graph. In one story, the brightness changes about 10 times. And, it will change for the image, even though I'm still reading the text. So, basically, it is flickering while I read.


Adaptive brightness is not an option on my laptop and I do not see any other settings that would effect this. I can change brightness using the slider bar or Fn up/down. But as I navigate through pages, it constantly changes to different brightness settings.

Some computers can let Windows automatically adjust screen brightness based on the current lighting conditions.

To manually adjust the screen brightness, we suggest following these troubleshooting steps:

• Click Start, then select Settings.
• Choose System, then select Display.
• Under Brightness and color, move the Change brightness slider to adjust the brightness.

Windows 10 has the ability to automatically adjust the screen brightness depending on the ambient light levels. This feature can be more annoying than helpful, either leaving your screen too dark or frequently
adjusting the brightness levels.

If you are using Lenovo YOGA 3 Pro-1370, I suggest you
Disable auto brightness feature
and check if it helps.

Windows 10 laptop changes brightness depending on the screen contents

I have a Dell XPS 13 (9350) running Windows 10 and I can't seem to disable the automatic brightness changing depending on what's on the screen. If the screen is primarily light the brightness will go up, and when it's primarily dark it'll dim. I'm having the same issue as outlined in these posts:

• My laptop's screen dims when there's dark content. Dell, Intel, Windows 10
  

but none of the solutions given worked for me. In my Intel HD Graphics control panel there is no "Display Power Saving Technology" option, nor are there "On Battery" or "Plugged In" tabs in the power section. This problem persists on both battery and AC.

I am willing to reinstall drivers but I am not willing to reinstall Windows. I am also familiar with the command prompt and registry editor.
